The above shot was taken at 7:00 in the evening from my front doorstep. As I'm sure you can tell, it is not usually black outside at that time!!!
On Tuesday night I headed out to take the garbage to the curb when I happened to look to the south and spot a huge, reddish-black cloud that was coming at me very, very quickly. I yelled for Brandon to come out and take a look at what was coming our way. Interestingly enough, I have a group of birds that will not be quiet, they are chirping from dawn to dusk. But, at that moment, they were completely silent...which added to the eeriness.
The cloud quickly overtook us and covered up the sun. There was so much dirt flying around in the air that I walked outside to take this picture and I ended up with dust caking my lip, eyes, hair, phone and anything else outside with me. You could smell the dust inside the house, especially when the air conditioner was running.
It was a little scary to watch the cloud come, then the force of the winds was a little scary, but on the whole it was extremely exciting! We don't get a lot of weather down here and I would take apocalyptic dust storms any day!!
