Hunger Games

I finally read Hunger Games and I absolutely loved it! I spent the weekend on my Nook reading and reading and reading until I finished it mid-Super Bowl last night. I have heard so much about this book I was very skeptical that I would actually enjoy it, but just like Harry Potter, I found myself engrossed in the story after the first few pages. The best of the whole book you ask? Well, it has a strong feminine lead character, which is absolutely fabulous!

I absolutely, definitely recommend this book to anyone who would like to read a good book that will completely immerse you into the story very quickly and will have you turning the pages to find out what is going to happen. Although, I have a feeling that most people have read this already and I'm just late to the game.

The Bad Place

I was excited to read good ol' Dean Koontz again for my first book for the Horror and Urban Fantasy challenge. The book I chose was The Bad Place. Actually, my library chose that for me, since it was one of the only e-books of Mr. Koontz's that was available.

This is an older book, it was released in 1990. This was very obvious when during one portion of the book a character hacks into a computer system just by doing something similar to "googling."

This book was filled with characters that I found interesting and a story line that while is very mystical, is more believable than the other horror books that jump the shark. I feel like Stephen King is very predictable in that he always goes back to aliens. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised to see to find myself surprised with the plot and where it goes.

This is not my favorite of Dean Koontz's books. I would recommend this book if you're going on a trip somewhere and you need a backup book in case you finish your first book and need something to occupy you.

Book Chick City: Horror & Urban Fantasy Challenge

I'm not sure if you've noticed the busty lady at the bottom of my blog, but I've decided that I should participate in the 2011 Horror & Urban Fantasy Challenge. I figured that since I haven't read horror in a while, (I loves me some horror books) I should actually do this! Anyhoo, if you would like to participate with me, head on over to Book Chick City. There are a lot of other challenges if horror isn't your thing.

I started out with Dean Koontz, the Bad Place and am looking for my next book...does The Hunger Games count for Urban Fantasy?
