Infinite Jest

Well, it certainly is good to see blogger back up and going again. I do have to admit that my feelings weren't hurt when it went down and no I didn't immediately want to run to wordpress. There was quite a bit of bellyaching out in the interwebs about the whole thing, but I guess you would be upset if you made a living using your blog. Although, if that is the case, what on earth are you doing using blogger as your platform then???

I digress....

I have finally finished the monster of a book that I started in mid-March. Mid-March!!! It was 1,200 pages of drivel that took me at least 300 to even marginally understand what was going on. I mean come on, when people have written books that are several hundred pages long just to describe the plot and help you understand how the characters are all tied in, you have either the best book ever...or the worst.

I stuck with this book, I even purchased it from Amazon because the library wouldn't let me renew it...I was so sure that there was some method behind the madness. I was sure that the reason why it has such a cult following would be revealed to me on the last few pages...no. The book ended and I was left feeling like the "Infinite Jest" had been played on me. Maybe that's the whole reason for the book?

Well, I'm off to greener pastures and now have Room, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Help at my house and I fully plan to knock them out over the next little while....I have a 50 book goal to read this year ya'll and this book has set me back!!! (I personally think it should count as at least 3 books.)

That sucks, I hate that.. Well let me know if you run into some good books, I would like to take your challenge of 50 books that's cool.. I have read 2 so I am not sure I would make it.. But it would be fun to try

Oh Kenzie, are you on Goodreads? If not, you should definitely get on there. Its super easy to see recommendations, plus it tracks the number of books you've read. Let me know if you get on there and we can be friends!!! :)

I guess I won't bother with that book! I liked The Help. You'll have to tell me what you think.
