I Might Have Almost Burned the House Down

I used to keep a large amount of matches around the house. I'm not quite where I got all of them, but I had what seemed like hundreds of little packages lying in almost every single drawer. When we were cleaning up and getting ready to move I threw all of them away. I miss them. I miss them terribly.

I have all sorts of new candles from For Every Body. I also have a few lighters, perfect solution for my candle lighting problem, right? Wrong. Well, to be more accurate, its a perfect solution until the candle burns down further. Once the candle reaches about 3/4 of the way down, the lighter no longer reaches the wick very well. After several blisters (I think I burned the fingerprint off of my thumb) I decided that I had found the perfect solution. I decided to take a piece of cardboard, light it on fire and put it in the candle to light the wick.

I did not anticipate the cardboard (obviously fake cardboard) would burn so quickly. I almost burned my arm off. Then, after the flame went down not only was the wick lit (yay) the paper was still inside the candle.

I got to spend the rest of the afternoon with the lovely smell of burning paper coupled with a little bit of pumpkin spice.
