Barefoot Running

Guess what I got tonight?

Vibram Pictures, Images and Photos

Yep, tonight I went "barefoot running." It was wonderful! I was warned by the lady at REI that I wouldn't be able to go very far, but I found running in the "shoe" to be much, much, much more comfortable than my regular shoes. I have bone spurs on my heels, which means no matter who fits me, my shoes always hurt my feet after a few miles, (not that I run any further than that, believe me).

I  think that I may have found them easier to run in because they first and foremost feel like dance shoes. Seriously. Well, except that your toes are spread out, but as for impact on your feet, its honestly the same as running around in your danskins. Then, I think that maybe my feet are a little more used to impact thanks to tumbling, I mean running around your backyard tumbling without shoes gets your ankles and balls of your feet used to impact, seriously, running in these things is absolutely awesome.

I don't think that I'll be able to go back to regular shoes. The saleswoman also informed me that the kind I bought can be used in the gym doing aerobics and such, I plan on it. Now...only to deal with the stares that I'll get when I go!

I highly, highly, highly recommend these if you're thinking about doing it.
