Well, I take that back, I have always been a voracious reader, its just that I've been a little bit busy this past year and I haven't been able to take advantage of books lately. About a year ago I started business on Etsy, but after realizing it was sweatshop of my own creating, I very gratefully closed that bad boy down. I mean seriously, who wants to go to work all day, then come home and fill orders for hours and then go to bed with your wrists tingling with the on-setting carpal tunnel syndrome from typing all day and making crocheted and knitted things all night? Not me, nope, no way.
Then, it was time to start studying for the GMAT, which by the way, most of the time I had remind myself how to actually do math by hand. I had become VERY dependent on calculators because believe me, when you're a teller, you do not leave things like that to mental math, you could end up 100 bucks short at the end of the night. So, take 3 years of being a teller during college, plus being introduced to a little thing called the HP12C and scientific notation in finance classes (holla to all you girls who trudged our way through the finance degree..there were only 3 females, including myself, that graduated in a sea of nerdy men...just sayin'). All of that put together meant that I put aside how to divide fractions, how to divide with decimals and how to do anything with exponents. I looked at those and could feel the panic starting...
Well, now that the GMAT is done, business is closed, the move is almost over, I have started reading again. I started with the Lemony Snickets Series of Unfortunate Events, then I moved on to a fake Sherlock Holmes book, (the imposter!) and then Little Bee. I was VERY disappointed with Little Bee's ending, but I seem to be the only one. And now I am reading, drum roll please.

Wicked! A warning, this book is absolutely nothing like I thought it would be. Plus, its a little ahem, well, adult. Is the play like this???? I swear my parents saw the play and didn't say a word about it being adult. Let me put this in perspective, my father was uncomfortable with Mama Mia, so I would assume that if the shenanigans occurring the book occurred onstage those two would have said something about it.
Anyhoo.....any suggestions for reading? I just ordered 2 new books on Amazon, they should be here tomorrow, One Day and I can't remember what the other one was..but they came highly recommended. But, I have a feeling with the way I have been devouring books I need more! I need a list! Help!

I read Wicked and hated it, I was just so bored with it the whole time, such a weird story. I have never seen the play but I'm guessing it is nothing like the book or it wouldn't be so popular.
Ha, you probably don't want to ask me for book advice...
A. because I'll go on and on forever
and
B. because I tend to read a lot of Young Adult which isn't for everyone.
But if I'm going to limit myself and pick a couple I'd pick the Hunger Games series. Have you read that?
And I just read a Non-Fiction I loved called THE DISAPPEARING SPOON. It's a series of stories about every element on the Periodic table. So good.
I also like the Mortal Instruments series b Cassandra Clare (I'm sure you've seen it on my blog).
And let me know if you find any good books! I'll check out this Wicked book! :)
Olivia, I am so excited to read Maze Runner, thank you! Ok...I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about reading Hunger Games. Amazingly enough, I had not heard of it until I read your review of Mockingjay. I think that I am going to read it...but what is sort of the premise? Is it kind of like Ender's Game?
Codee, that's funny that you say that. There have been quite a few people that have said the same thing to me about Wicked. Right now, I'm only far enough to see the very odd things going on and I'm interested in why there are Animal's and then there are animals. :) But, after everyone else's reviews, I'm thinking that maybe this wasn't the best book to get...but I'm time committed now!! ha ha, I have no choice but to finish it.
Hope you enjoy the two you just bought on my suggestion.
I read Wicked...didn't like it. LOVE the play. There are similarities, but the book is WAY more detailed and also more "adult" like you said.
You should read the Hunger Games trilogy for sure. You can see some of my favs on my blog... Happy reading!
