Buttercream Frosting Class

Friday night was our second buttercream frosting class. I had been looking forward to this class because it meant that we got to decorate our own cakes however we wanted. Unforunately, I got really busy at the end of last week, so I was baking and frosting my cake at the last possible second. That meant that I had no idea what I was going to do for my design. I figured that I would wait until I got there and then the cake would speak to me. I also asked Mindy to bring some cookie cutters for inspiration. This is the masterpiece I ended up with:

Mindy's cake is the cute zebra-striped cake in the back...mine is the gorgeous "Under the Sea" themed Van Gogh in the foreground. And yes...its does say "Festivus for the Rest of Us" across the bottom. I needed to practice the lettering and as a left handed person this is a particularly hard part of decorating a cake. And....well, I was done early, my cake had already been squashed by the cute little girl across from me who opened her lid right on top of my newly frosted cake...so I figured that Festivus for the Rest of Us couldn't hurt, only help.
