1.) You drive there
2.) You drive there
3.) You drive there
Ok, so there was only one real reason not to go, but it is frightening to hear about some of the stories about what's going on along the border. But, I was assured that the border crossing is a cinch and is more of a checkpoint rather than a big city. We crossed the border and found ourselves in Mexico in our explorer and my sister in law in back. I will admit I was a little nervous, not nervous so much that we would get caught in something that we shouldn't, but more nervous that maybe some random person would ram into the explorer and then we'd have to use that special insurance that we had to buy for the 2 days. Luckily we didn't have any problems and we found ourselves on the road with many other Arizonians making the 3 hour drive down to the beach.
Since the problems with the border and the economic downturn, the number of visits have dramatically fallen. This last weekend would have been college spring break and the beach would have been filled. This time occupancy was at 30%, which I was not complaining about. It was absolutely lovely, there weren't too many people and we had some of the best fish and shrimp Saturday night. Puerto Penasco is a shrimping town, you could see the large ships heading out into the Sea of Cortez.

The view from our condo.

The water was too cold to get in, so we stayed at the pool while we were swimming.

Brando didn't want to lounge around the pool, so T and I spent Saturday soaking up the rays.
It was a lovely weekend and I cannot wait to go back down.
