Back to my other dream, an astronomer. My parents were great in realizing that there were some things that made me extremely happy and they did what they needed to help me along...one of those things was reading incessantly about the stars. Bam, what did they do? They got me a comprehensive (well elementary comprehensive) book on the stars and our solar system...by none other than Carl Sagan.

That book taught me all sorts of things, I knew exactly which direction that storm on Jupiter was rotating, (counter-clockwise thank you very much) that scientists had been able to land some equipment very shortly on Venus and prior to them being flattened by the atmospheric pressure they had taken pictures of the ground and the rocks were glowing!!!
Anyhoo, it has come to my attention that I missed Carl Sagan day on November 6th....I'm going to have to set my calendar next year so I can pay the appropriate homage.

I tried to read Contact by Carl Sagan a while back and just couldn't do it. I do read a lot of "Magic School Bus: Lost in Outer Space" with Mikey and I have to say, I know my stars and planets quite well now. . . . highly recommended! :)
Ok Ms.Michelle Sagan - what is the ultra bright star I saw this morning in the south-east sky about 6:45 a.m.
It could have been Mercury!!! :) How was New Orleans???
