Bear River Migratory Refuge

Last night my mother-in-law called me and asked me if I was free for a little bit after work, and if so, could I bring my camera. I thought maybe we were going to go take some pictures of some flowers or document some family stuff....but instead we hopped into the truck and started heading toward Brigham City.

We turned left at the freeway exit and started heading west. I had completely forgotten that the bird refuge was out there AND I had never been. I was so excited when I figured out where we were going, ad I was hitting myself in the head for not bringing the proper lens. Oh well, I was still able to get a few pics, but it would have been better had I brought my zoom.

This little guy was fishing around and he kept getting fish inside his huge beak, which would then expand to hold whatever he had swallowed. After a moments, he would move his head around and down into his belly the fish would go.

This guy was beautiful, and absolutely graceful. When he took off from the water, he barely made a ripple in the water. While the pelican drug his feet across the water's surface, the heron kept them together held out of the way when he decided to fly out of our sight.

I was especially glad that I got to go before I moved, I am going to miss scenery like this!

Love this place. One time Bryan and I walked the whole car loop - like 13 miles. It was fun, but also pretty exhausting.
