This little guy was not happy with me at first. I got too close to him for comfort and the sound of my camera going off must have shocked him. He flew right at me. Now, I don't know much about dragonflies, but I swear they are not dangerous. As soon as I backed up, and swatted at him a couple of times, he came back and landed on what is left of my bearded iris. In order to finally get this picture I had to use a technique I learned watching all of those National Geographic wildlife movies. First, you have to let the wild animal get used to your presence. Then, you have to very stealthily make your move, but, and this is a very important but, you cannot equate stealth with quickness. Nope. You've got to have patience. Thank you National Geographic, I knew what I learned on those shows would come in handy one day.
After snapping this little guy's pic I decided that maybe I should figure out what these things do, since there were at least 20 flying around my flowers. Well, according to wikipedia, they eat certain pests like mosquitos. Well, go forth and eat my friend!
