To get ready I did a super heavy spring cleaning of my house, (it needed it) and decided to make my own birthday cake. Why not??? I've been taking classes! Bless my heart...hopefully one day I can actually create a cake that doesn't look like a 5 year old did it.

Do you see how the fondant is all wrapped over itself? That is a direct result of baking cakes for 4 hours and then attempting to decorate. I was tired and frustrated and when the stinking fondant wouldn't cooperate, well, slapped it on there, folded it over and called it good.
I'm thinking that I'll stick to cupcakes for a little while under I can muster up some courage to try a cake again....besides, cupcakes are more fun to decorate.

I filled the cupcakes with some yummy "creme" and then frosted the tops and they were ready to roll. I'll admit they were a bit rich with the filling but still worth it!
We had a really nice night with a house packed full of family.

Brandon made some delicious curry tacos, I ate like it was Thanksgiving dinner.

I had to add this picture of Logan, he's always up for a photo opp.
In all honesty, I really, really, really didn't want to turn 28. Its old. I almost put 18 on my cake and on the cupcakes, but I decided to go with the real number, even if I only feel like I'm 18 still. Which, while I'm on the subject of being 18, is anyone out there planning on going to our high school reunion? I'm torn on whether I am going......

It was a fun night! And I thought the cake was still cool!
Happy Belated, Michelle! We love you! Oh and the cake looks delish...i wanna try a cake that is make with fondont. Does it still taste yummy? Is it heavy, rich, or a little harder to bit into? I'm so curious, can you tell?
Wahoo happy birthday (late) looks like you had fun. And great job on the cake sheesh!
Oh Hallie, girl you come over any time and we will make some serious cakes!!11 Yeah, its a little harder to bite into with the fondant on...most people take it off. I, on the other hand, am a weirdo and I like it in all of its sugary goodness. :)
Thanks Codee...oh you're nice because I know the truth...bless that cake's heart. :)
Bre, what are we going to do tomorrow night???
Oooooooh, I just may have to take you up on that offer. And what the heck is up with all my fobbiness? "make" and "bit" next time I need to read and re-read before I hit 'publish your comment'. Sheesh! Freakin FOB!
I feel like I'm 18 still too. So weird to realize how you're getting old. I'm turning 28 this year and it definitely making me feel old. Though my husband is 3 years older so he is always older than me. :)
