The Donner's ate Dog???

Growing up in Utah I think that you hear about the Donner party far more than say someone in Florida, or Kansas. I could be wrong, but I'm working on a hunch here. I remember watching that movie where the soccer team crashes into a mountain and they start eating each other and thinking, "ah, here's the Donner Party, modern day." But to know that they may have eaten dog? Well sheesh, that changes everything.
