Goals

When I was in college, I would sit down every fall and set goals for myself. They weren't always academic, but it was comforting to have a list of goals to work for and cross off when they were completed. I haven't done that since I graduated and I've been feeling the itch lately.

I am in the mood to get creative and "expand my horizons." I think that I have crafty talents in my family, my aunt has a very successful business built on talent and craftiness, so why can't I explore? So, I have decided to try a few things....hopefully, since I have foolishly publicly proclaimed my goals, I will actually do them.

1.) Write a story that someone would actually want to read. I am the queen of beginning a really great story, getting frustrated that its not turning in the award winning piece I had hoped, and tying it off with a murder, a wedding or aliens. What can I say, they're the 3 easiest endings to create. When I entered the short story contest this summer...yep, my children's story ended with aliens...classic.

2.) I am fairly good at sewing. I used to love it. I took every sewing class that I could in high school. The best memory of high school sewing is when a chick on the other table got her finger in the way and the needle went right through it, she had to go to the emergency room.
I watch Project Runway and it inspires me to try the same thing! I realize I am no Christian Siriano (I'm sure that spelling is incorrect) BUT, I'm sure I could make something edgy. I only have a few problems to overcome, a.) no sewing machine in my residence b.) a complete inability to draw. The sewing machine problem could be easily fixed, I have several relatives I could go visit and use their machines. My biggest problem is that my artistic skills have not advanced since the 4th grade and that's the truth. So, IF I can get my ideas down on paper...perhaps I could make them a reality.

3.) I want to have a packed weekend every weekend. I have gotten far too comfortable with the sweats, couch and catching up on sleep on the weekend. I am going to plan something out for every weekend so that I am going to experience something new.

Whew! It looks like I am going to be busy!

Oh and fyi I thought I would post a pic of the tablecloth I have been crocheting. So far everything is correct, except I seem to have a problem with keeping my tension correct because the darn thing is already about double the size it should be.

Michelle-- I am not sure you remember me, but my Dad John used to live by your parents. I found your blog on Alisa and I thought I would say hi... It is funny because I used to live by the Taukiuvea's and I used to drive Jason to school. So it is a small world. But looks like you are doing great. I hope all is well Drop a line on my blog if you would like to.
